Problems rebooting tablet

I actually have 2 of these tablets in my home - 1 is doing great, but the other one recently started having problems. I have done a search and several people were talking about the sleep mode problem, and I think that may be what this one is experiencing. Someone had made the comment that you take your battery out, but I have no clue how. Then someone said to reset it... how do you do that?? Someone please help. My daughter is taking over my tablet and I would like for her to be able to use her own.
